Three Palestinian daughters speak to usabout their love of reading. One is a ballerina who also plays the violin. She has demonstrated her talents to children in the libraries during the cultural events sponsored by Seraj. Another, Noor Aburabie from Nablus, spent her summer as an intern for Seraj. The third is a musician from Gaza who is steeped in the traditions of her grandmother and great grandmother both of whom told stories through songs.
As the video opens, we see a young woman walking down the street with a violin case over her shoulder. She pushes open a nondescript door, and the world opens up! Inside is a beautiful Palestinian residence with a dance studio, and we discover that Marmaris not only a violinist, but a dancer! She speaks of the importance of dance as a way of expressing what it means to be Palestinian and uses her talents to highlight important issues within the Palestinian society. It is her way of reaching out to people and telling them a story.
Noor, the second daughter and currently a university student honing her video and communication skills, learned about Seraj through US Board member, Elisabeth Trost, who taught in Noor's high school in Nablus for two years.
The third daughter,Yusor, is a musician, singer and songwriter from Gaza. As she tells us about her grandmother and great grandmother, we see that she is continuing their musical traditions in her own life through performance and videos.
Enjoy the video!

The Paddock Challenge Needs Your Support
Last July, Loai Najjar, from a family of strong Seraj supporters, gave us $60,000 toward the establishment of a math & computer library in the Birzeit Hub. Earlier, the Episcopal Paddock Trust Fund granted us $10,000 for each of three years toward a children’s library in the Birzeit Hub. For this year, another Seraj donor offered to match the Paddock grant, for a challenge goal of $20,000. We began our efforts to meet this matching Challenge in June, and are within $6,000 of our goal.
Now, in the current Benefit, we are inviting gifts in support of the Paddock Challenge. You will see this is one of the giving options on our web donor form (or note it on your check). Children’s libraries and children’s programs are at the heart of what we do.Please join our Challenge.
Please be generous! The Benefit is a major source of our funds. And, we will be endlessly grateful and pledge good use of your donations. Thank you!
