Maximum Capacity

More books, more space, more service

The Jifna Women Charitable Society manages the library in the municipal building, which also houses a meeting space, general clinic and a dental office. When it was first opened, many villagers were skeptical that children would willingly come to a library to read after school. But they were pleasantly surprised! In fact, so many children come to study, read, or receive help with their homework that the room is overflowing. The children are spreading out into the hallway and meeting room, sitting on the floor.

Jifna Library

The Jifna Women Charitable Society recognizes that the library currently cannot meet the demands of all the children attending each day and has proposed to move the library to a larger location. They are working with other community leaders of the village to determine the best place.

When the library is in its new location, it will need:

  •  Additional tables, chairs, and shelves

  •  A few computers and a printer

  •  A projector to screen films

  •  Books, books and more books!

In partnership with “Jifna Women Charitable Society”, the library was launched in 2007. When it was first opened, many villagers were skeptical that children would willingly come to a library to read after school.  But they were pleasantly surprised!  In fact, so many children come to study, read, or receive help with their homework that the room is overflowing.  This year we are allocating new fund to move the library to a bigger location.
